#Throwback Thursday

I know that the internet is an amazing thing, but sometimes it still surprises me...

I recently woke up to an email from the Wimalasena family who lived next door to me when I was around 2-3 years old. My family spent time in Lesotho when I was young, and we lived in an expat complex in Maseru. The Wimalasena family lived a couple of doors down, and though I don't remember them very well, I do have many vivid memories of that time.

They were flipping through an album, and came across a photo of me with their daughters, Bodhi and Samadhi, and decided to look me up on the world wide web, and send it to me. They wrote:

Here is the story behind this photo which we found when we were going through an old photo album.
My husband, our two daughters and I were in Lesotho for a year. You and your family were living a couple of doors down in the same complex. We knew your family well. You used to come to our house often to play with our girls. (mostly doing jigsaw puzzles)
This photo was taken outside our house. Sweet memories eh. Thought you might like to see it.

How awesome is that? I am so grateful for the photo and story.

You will note that I was a tad camera shy, and that my mother believed that things should match. Apparently short shorts were mandatory too.

We haven't see each other in almost 25 years, and they have since relocated to New Zealand, so it amazes me that they were able to connect me with the past.

Has the internet ever helped you link up with something special from the past?
