Launch - 'Yes, I am'

'Yes, I am' - the new book compiled by Robin Malan & Ashraf Johaardien that features contributions by 43 writers, including myself, will be officially launched on Thursday, 29th April 2010. A number of the Cape Town-based contributors will be reading excerpts from their contributions at the launch, as part of a 'ping parade'. I will be there to do a little reading for y'all. See the details below:

Date: Thursday, 29 April 2010
Time: 5.30 for 6pm
Venue: The Book Lounge - cnr Roeland & Buitenkant Streets, Cape Town
PLEASE RSVP: email ASAP to book your place.

The book got a great review in The Cape Times on Friday. I got a special mention, which is so humbling when I consider how many contributors there are, and the calibre of their writing abilities. In her red-eye column, Suzy Bell described the collection as "an absolute gem of a collection". She goes on to say, "The contributors are established talent like the eloquent author Damon Galgut, Sir Antony Sher, the late K Sello Duiker, Pieter-Dirk Uys and wonderful emerging talent." She ends off with, "Noteworthy entries include Zackie Achmat’s ‘A boy grows up in Salt River and Twanji Kalula’s ‘It’s none of your business’."

Please RSVP if you would like to attend the launch. The book will be on sale at the event. I will be posting details about another reading I will be doing from the book shortly, and let you know where it will be on sale.
